ATHENS, Oct 24 (AFP) - Athina Onassis, the 20-year-old grand-daughter of the late shipping tycoon Aristotle Onassis, is to marry her Brazilian companion in the city of Sao Paolo on December 3, a source close to the family said on Monday, confirming a report in the Greek press.
The Ethnos newspaper, which first reported the couple's wedding plans, said some 750 guests were expected at the ceremony, which the source said would be taking place in the city's Oscar and Maria-Luisa Americano Foundation.
Athina Onassis, who is widely reported to be one of the world's richest women, will be marrying Alvaro Alfonso de Miranda, 31, who has been her companion for two years.
The couple currently live in Sao Paolo.
Noting that she is an Orthodox Christian and he a Roman Catholic, the paper said the couple had not yet decided what kind of religious ceremony to hold.
The two are both keen on horseriding. Alfonso de Miranda won a bronze medal in equestrian events during the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000.
