SUMMIT COUNTY -- A helicopter, several air tankers and dozens of firefighters worked throughout the day Sunday to stop a fire burning in Parley's Canyon.
Fire officials say the blaze started on the north side of the canyon just above a shooting range for the Unified Police Department and Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office.
As of 8 p.m. Sunday, the fire had burned through close to 60 acres as it ran up the ridge line and into some dense scrub oak.
Crews have contained a portion of the blaze and are now working to put out the remaining hot spots. About 40 firefighters were set to continue battling the blaze through midnight.
Fire officials say several additional crews have been ordered for Monday. Capt. Clint Smith with the Unified Fire Department says crews could be battling the fire for several days.
No word yet on a cause.
