SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The University of Utah says its research funding increased 27 percent in the fiscal year that ended June 30, largely because of federal stimulus money.
The university reported Monday that it collected more than $450 million in research money in the past year.
Only about $13 million of the nearly $96 million increase came from non-stimulus money. About one-fourth of the stimulus money is being used toward construction of a new chemistry building and to expand the university's fiber optic network.
The stimulus money also helped fund more than 200 research projects at the school.
