Doug Wright Reporting

"Lucky You" is the story of a high stakes poker player, Huck Cheever-played by Eric Bana-who is struggling to qualify fo rthe World Series of Poker.

Ah, the plot thickens since Huck's world-class poker playin' daddy, C.J. Cheever-played by Robert Duvall-will be at the tables as well, and the father ans son have issues.

Huck meets sweet and innocent Billie-played by Drew Barrymore, who is in town to try her luck at singing and sadly, she simply becomes refreshment served up between interminable hands of cards.

How far will Huck go to get the entrance fee money, to beat daddyand to win the world championship?

In fairness, some of the insights into high stakes poker are interesting and, as usual, Duvall turns in a winning role... but, the movie drags as we trudge from table to table and endure hand after hand as Bana's character deals with his ambitions and agnst.

Barrymore, who is positioned somewhere between muse and conscience, is wasted in "Lucky You".

Too bad , there are some riveting scenes and poignant moments... but overall we're dealing a bad cinematic hand that left me wanting to fold and cash in my chips far to early in the game.

Just 2 1/2 stars for "Lucky You" and it's rated PG-13.
