CLEARFIELD -- A Clearfield man is facing criminal charges for allegedly trying to burn down his home.
Crews responded to a fire at the home of Ryan Hunter Riska at near 100 North and 500 West in Clearfield last week. They found stove burners had been left on and towels had been placed close to the flames. They also found the propane valve on a gas barbecue had been left open.
Crews were able to knock down the fire quickly, containing it just to the kitchen of the home.
According to the Standard-Examiner, Riska's daughter came to the scene and told officers her father was suicidal. Riska, age 60, was later found in Tabiona in Duchesne County with a handgun.
Riska is now being held in the Davis County Jail and is charged with felony aggravated arson.
