SALT LAKE CITY -- Police are searching for a man accused of stealing 10 motorized scooters.
Police say the 24-year-old man targeted a scooter dealership at 1300 South and State Street, which is near his mother's home.
Officers say the thief broke into the business and took 10 scooters, one at a time, back to his mother's house. She alerted police around 4:30 a.m., saying her son had brought stolen property home.
When officers arrived, they found the scooters and then had to figure out where they had been stolen from.

"By searching the area and kind of knowing what they were looking for, they found a business about a block away from here that had been broken into," said Lt. James Tracy with the Salt Lake City Police Department.
Since then, officers have recovered nine of the stolen scooters. Each is worth thousands of dollars.
The 10th scooter is a orange Genuine Buddy 125cc that belongs to Martek Global Services. Company officials say they had sent it to the dealership to be serviced.
The suspect is still at large with the 10th scooter. His mother provided a full description for police to go on.
