(KSL News) -- A semi truck caught fire this morning, forcing crews to temporarily close eastbound I-80.
The semi was hauling lettuce around 4am Wednesday morning on I-80 near 7400 West, when the trailer's rear axle somehow caught fire.
The Department of Public safety says the driver detached his tractor from the 45-foot trailer to avoid further damage.
Now the Department of Agriculture is examining the load for damage. The lettuce was headed for Omaha, Nebraska.
