CENTERVILLE -- A fire burning near Centerville is now fully contained. The fire, which started on Thursday, charred about 70 acres.
Sunday afternoon firefighters did some final checks of the Ricks Fire.
Fire officials are still trying to pinpoint an exact cause of the blaze, but they believe it may have been caused by target shooters.
While this year's fire season has been relatively mild so far, fire officials fear it could get worse.
The Utah Division of Forestry says we've had 318 wildfires this year to date. That's just 14 more wildfires than this time last year.
Officials say both this and last year's fire seasons were slow to start because of cooler, wetter weather. But now that things are getting hotter and drying out, they worry we'll see more fires in the weeks to come.
