Samantha Hayes Reporting(KSL News) -- The search for a missing hiker ended this morning with the discovery of his body at the bottom of a canyon.
Crews started the search for the 58-year old man when his son called for help at 8:00 last night; his father had been gone since 11:00 that morning.
The man went on the hike alone in the area behind the Canyon Rim neighborhood, a rocky area with no established trails. His body was found in Dry Canyon in a rocky area. Searchers say it appears he fell off a rock ledge.
Sgt. Paul Jaroscak, Sal Lake County: "We don't know if he tumbled off that or if he has a medical condition that led to that."
His family says the man was ambitious and goal oriented, but not an experienced hiker.
