OGDEN, Utah (AP) -- Officials have arrested 15 alleged gang members in the Ogden area.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement Resident Agent in Charge Kris Line says ICE partnered with northern Utah law enforcement for the raid that ended Sunday.

The arrests were part of the nationwide Operation Community Shield, which is credited with the arrest of more than 17,500 gang members and associates nationally since February 2005.

Eleven of the 15 arrested are Mexican nationals. The other four are U.S. citizens. Some of the 15 were arrested on state warrants. Eight are facing federal or state criminal charges.

Line says those arrested will serve time for any crimes they're convicted of and those from Mexico will then be deported.
