OGDEN, Utah (AP) -- A construction employee is headed to jail and will pay more than $140,000 in restitution after pleading guilty to embezzling from one of Utah's largest contractors.
Bart Andersen, 39, of Hooper, pleaded guilty in February to two counts of fraud and one count of theft by deception for stealing a quarter-million dollars from Big D Construction. As part of a plea agreement, prosecutors dropped three other charges.
On Friday a 2nd District Judge W. Brent West ordered Andersen to spend one year in jail, but allowed him work release time.
An auditor's investigation found Andersen used a company credit card for personal expenses, including meals, car expenses and trips. Andersen then doctored company expense reports.
