(KSL News) -- Oprah Winfrey's boyfriend visited West High School today to give students a pep talk. New York Times best-selling author Steadman Graham has teamed up with the Utah Jazz to launch the campaign "You Can Make it Happen."

This outreach program teaches students that they can create their own success in life.

Steadman Graham: "We teach you how to look within yourself to see find out what your talents, what your skills, what your strengths are, so that you can take those strengths and develop those strengths and develop those strengths to your maximum ability as a human being."

Graham says kids are responsible for their actions and can overcome any obstacles in their way. Throughout the year, Jazz players will make periodic visits to the school to keep kids motivated.
