SALT LAKE CITY -- The oil leak from a Salt Lake City Chevron pipeline probably won't affect prices at the gas pump, the Salt Lake Tribune reports.
The pipeline that supplies the company's refinery with about 15,000 barrels of crude oil per day is still shut down, but they say the company still has plenty of oil on hand to process into gasoline.
"We've started looking for other sources of crude [in case the pipeline closure drags on]," Chevron spokesman Dan Johnson told the Salt Lake Tribune Monday. "But, for the short term, we have plenty of oil in storage at our refinery."
Chevron workers started repairing the 10-inch steel pipeline that caused the spill. It could be up and running in as little as a few days.
