SANDY -- A new show of flags is open to the public just in time for Flag Day.

The Utah State Historical Society and a flag expert opened up their collections of unique and historical flags Friday to commemorate Flag Day on Monday.

Among the collection, the U.S. flag flown on the USS Utah as she sank in Pearl Harbor and a rare unofficial 47-star flag.

"The flag is what we make it. It reflects us, and it will grow and develop and change just as our nation does. It will mean different things in the future because of the things we do today," says John Hartvigsen, a scholar in the study of flags.

A collection of presidential china used by 15 different presidents -- including Abraham Lincoln, Harry Truman and Ronald Reagan -- are also on display.

The flags and china will be on display at Colonial Flag in Sandy through Monday, June 14.
