SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Utah state Sen. Chris Buttars is recuperating after surgery to replace a heart valve.
Senate President Michael Waddoups says Buttars, a West Jordan Republican, is doing well.
Waddoups says the 68-year-old Buttars will need a few months to fully recover and will keep a low profile this summer.
Buttars has had health problems in the past few years and has diabetes.
Waddoups says Buttars is eager to return to work and has several issues he wants to work on at the state Legislature.
