OGDEN -- Police tracked down a man involved in a crash that killed a teenage girl in Ogden Canyon.

Deputies say they found the 18-year-old driver and his car at a home in Ogden. They were interviewing him at the Weber County Sheriff's Office Friday morning.

Deputies say he was racing another car in his red Honda Thursday on State Road 39 near the spillway at Pineview Reservoir when the driver of the other car went off the road and struck a tree. A 16-year-old girl who was riding in that car was killed.

Deputies say the suspect in custody witnessed the crash but didn't stop to help. They say he is being cooperative with the investigation and has stated he fled the scene of the crash because he was scared.

He's very, very concerned about what happened. He's very remorseful about being involved in this kind of traumatic incident.

–Lt. Phillip Howell

"He admits that he was, or they were playing with each other on the roadway and racing and things just got out of the control," said Lt. Phillip Howell with the Weber County Sheriff's Office. "The black Acura lost control, and he was scared, and he continued driving down the canyon."

Investigators have not released the relationship between the driver of the red Honda and the driver black Acura, but they have released the name of the 16-year-old girl who died.

Her name is Myra Serrano of Ogden. Friends say she attended Ogden High School.

Deputies have not said whether the driver of the Honda knew Serrano was killed in the crash. They say during their interview with him Friday morning, he seemed upset about what happened.

"He's very, very concerned about what happened," said Howell. "He's very remorseful about being involved in this kind of traumatic incident."

Investigators say they plan to release the teen after they are done questioning him. They say no charges will be filed Friday against anyone involved in the crash.

Once the investigation is wrapped up, it will be turned over the Weber County Attorney's Office.
