One hundred years ago, when Utah's tallest building reached 11 stories and the state's population had just topped 370,000, John B. Moreton founded the J.B. Moreton Company to provide contractors, miners and other businesses with the financial security to think big and grow their companies. Beginning in 1910, John and two employees began writing surety bonds to offset financial risks of new business ventures.

Today, John's company, Moreton & Company, is one of the 100 largest insurance brokers in America. It employs more than 160 professionals in three states and places more than $500 million in annual premiums with the world's leading insurers. For a century, it has also provided hundreds of companies with commercial insurance, risk management, surety, personal insurance, employee benefits, financial services and retirement plans.

Fourth generation company president (and John's great grandson) Bill Moreton says the company has been keeping its promises for a hundred years. Clients have come to rely on Moreton & Company's integrity and ability to provide relief when something unexpectedly goes wrong. For example, as the designated insurance broker for the 2002 Winter Olympic games, Moreton and Company paid the cancellation fees when high winds cancelled the first event.

The company's diverse clientele spans all kinds, from small business owners to large publicly traded corporations to government organizations.

Bill says it's the quality of employees that sets Moreton & Company apart from other insurance brokers. Employees are taught to focus on delivering service that exceeds a client's expectations. Many have more than 15 years of experience in the insurance industry.
