(Photo: ABC)OREM -- Excitement is sweeping around the campus of Utah Valley University after the school's ballroom dance team showed its stuff on Tuesday night's episode of "Dancing with the Stars."

The dance team was competing against Rutgers University, and UVU's team received a nearly perfect score. The judges described their routine as "perfect," "incredible," and "brilliant."

One judge even joined in a chant with the crowd of UVU students that were in the studio audience.

"Tying to support UVU with our cheer, that was something special," said school spokesman Brad Plothow.

Plothow noted Wednesday he's seen students gathered around computers watching YouTube video replays of the dance off.

"The energy on campus today is incredible," he said. "You walk around and you hear people talk about watching the show last night and about all the votes they cast." The university is now waiting to hear if its dance team got enough votes from viewers around the country to advance it on to final collegiate competition on the show, which will be against Purdue University.

The school is also enjoying the national spotlight, as it has been making efforts to get its name more recognizable both locally and elsewhere.

"This shows the commitment to excellence that happens in so many areas here at UVU, and it showed it on the national stage," Plothow said. "Tens of millions watched and were impressed, I'm sure."
