PROVO, Utah (AP) -- A former Mapleton City recorder who pleaded guilty to theft for taking city gift cards and postage stamps and selling them on eBay has been sentenced to 90 days in jail.
Jeannie Kay Bell pleaded guilty in March in state court to one count of second-degree felony theft.
The Daily Herald in Provo reported on its Web site Thursday that Judge James Taylor suspended a one- to 15-year prison sentence for the 49-year-old Bell in favor of the jail time.
Bell got credit for 35 days spent in jail. The rest can be served through the GPS monitoring system.
Bell will pay nearly $33,000 in restitution to the city.
Prosecutors say Bell bought the items with city funds and resold them between January 2007 and May 2009.
Bell was named the city's recorder in 2003. She resigned last year.
