WEST JORDAN, Utah (AP) -- Software maker Oracle Corp. has resumed construction of a $285 million data center in the Salt Lake City suburb of West Jordan.
State and local economic officials say the company eventually will hire 100 employees at salaries averaging $82,000.
Oracle broke ground in October 2008 then stopped construction in March 2009. Utah officials say the stoppage was related to Oracle's decision to buy software and server maker Sun Microsystems Inc.
Redwood Shores, Calif.-based Oracle wouldn't take any questions Thursday.
Utah has become a destination for large electronic data centers, partly because of low power rates. eBay is building a $334 million center in South Jordan. The National Security Agency also has plans for a $1.7 billion electronic data center.
