SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The executive director of the Tour of Utah resigned today after the cycling event failed to secure enough sponsorships to hold the race on time this year.

The tour's board of directors is postponing the race, originally scheduled for July 1-7, until more sponsors are found and executive director Ted Wilson is replaced.

The Tour of Utah is a six-day, 500-mile race that culminates with a grueling series of climbs through the Wasatch mountains. The first Tour of Utah was held last year. It is part of the International Cycling Union and one of 15 races in the 2007 U-S-A Cycling Pro Tour. ---- On the Net: Tour of Utah http://www.tourofutah.com/
