DALLAS -- A former BYU football player once charged with rape is now facing charges related to a shooting death in Dallas.

According to the Deseret News, 25-year-old Karland Bennett was taken into custody Friday night accused of abducting, robbing and shooting another man. Police say when Bennett was arrested he had the gun used in the shooting on him, as well as items stolen from the victim.

Bennett was one of four football players charged in the 2004 rape of a 17-year-old Provo girl. Those charges were later dropped.
