Apartment fire forces family from home

SALT LAKE CITY -- A fire forced seven people out of their home in Salt Lake City's Glendale neighborhood.

Firefighters say the blaze started in a bedroom on the second story of the apartment building near 1700 South and 1100 West shortly before midnight.

Crews were delayed getting to the scene, which allowed time for the flames to spread.

There was "a little bit of confusion," said Mark Bednarik of the Salt Lake City Fire Department. "Initially [we] received two other addresses before we got the correct one."

Every one in the affected apartments was able to get out safely.

No word yet on the cause of the fire.
