SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Several Utah law enforcement agencies will be collecting unused medications.

The collection events scheduled for Saturday are part of a program called "Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinet."

State and local officials are worried about expired medications either being abused or flushed down the toilets. The collection events are intended as a way for Utahns to safely drop off their medications.

The events scheduled for Saturday will be held at the Salt Lake County government center; Smith's stores in Cottonwood Heights, Heber and Herriman; Hillcrest High School in Midvale; the Recycle Utah parking lot in Park City; and Sutherland's parking lot in Price.

Drugs can be dropped off between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
