(KSL News) Do you think the Elizabeth Smart story is receiving too much attention?
Utahns answered that question and several others in an exclusive KSL-TV-Deseret Morning News Dan Jones poll.
Elizabeth Smart and her family have been the subjects of considerable media attention. Which reflects your opinion?
406 people were asked, 'Which reflects your opinion about Elizabeth Smart, her family and their considerable media attention?'
50% said she has received too much attention
45% said about the right amount
If too much, who's to blame? 34 percent said the Smarts, seven percent said TV or book publicists combined, and 20 percent said national and local news reporters.
Is it good or bad for Elizabeth to have continued media exposure? 23 percent say good and 67 percent say bad.
And when asked about the Smarts' book and movie deal, 40 percent say they were wise to control the final product. 26 percent said they were exploiting the kidnapping for their own benefit. And when asked about other Smart family members writing books, 56 percent say *they, too, are exploiting the kidnapping.
