The injury put a damper on a matchup between two of the top teams in the Western Conference. The Warriors led by 30 late in the third quarter before the Thunder stormed back and got as close as six points. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with 24 points.

His concern is not playing up to the same caliber as a team like the division-leading Eagles. The Miami Marlins have hired Los Angeles Dodgers first base coach Clayton McCullough as the franchise's 17th manager. McCullough, 44, was hired by the Dodgers in 2015 as their minor league field coordinator and had been the first-base coach on Dave Roberts' staff since the 2021 season. The Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees in five games last month to win their eighth World Series title. He takes the job previously held by 2023 NL Manager of the Year Skip Schumaker, who parted ways with the team in September after just two season.

Martin Truex Jr. got a nice surprise when his fellow drivers gave him a standing ovation during the prerace meeting before Sunday's NASCAR finale. Once on the track, the 44-year-old driver from New Jersey took time to thank his team for all the memories before his final race as a full-time Cup Series driver. Truex had hoped to send his team out with a win, but fell short. The pole sitter got caught in a shuffle of pit stops and cautions, finishing 17th. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver hopes to run in next year's Daytona 500 and has talked to team owner Joe Gibbs about racing some in the Xfinity Series.

Oklahoma City Thunder forward Chet Holmgren will miss at least eight weeks with a pelvic fracture. He sustained a right lilac wing fracture in the first quarter against the Golden State Warriors on Sunday. He contested a layup by Andrew Wiggins and hit the floor hard. He entered the night averaging 18.2 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game. He already had moved from forward to center because newly-acquired big man Isaiah Hartenstein was out with a fractured left hand. The Thunder were also missing injured forwards Jaylin Williams and Kenrich Williams.

Christian McCaffery felt good physically. He'll wait until he has a chance to watch some tape before deciding how good he looked in his 2024 debut. The San Francisco running back returned to the lineup after missing the first eight games of the season, rushing for 39 yards on 13 carries and catching six passes for 68 yards in the 49ers' 23-20 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

Cooper Rush didn't look anything like the replacement who went 4-1 filling in for Prescott two years ago, going 13 of 23 for just 45 yards.

Indianapolis Colts fans have expressed their displeasure with the direction of the team under quarterback Joe Flacco. Boos were audible during the Colts' 30-20 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Coach Shane Steichen and Flacco both heard them, but Steichen says he's not yet ready to switch back to second-year QB Anthony Richardson. Joey Logano won his third NACAR championship Sunday with a relentless drive at Phoenix Raceway that gave Team Penske its third major motorsports title in less than a month. Logano held off Penske teammate Ryan Blaney over the final 20 laps to beat him to the Cup Series title by 0.330 seconds. Blaney was trying to become the first back-to-back champion since Jimmie Johnson won five straight from 2006 to 2010. Instead, Logano became the 10th driver in NASCAR history to win three or more championships. Kyle Busch is the only other active driver with multiple titles.

Before Jayden Daniels was providing big plays and hope for the Commanders, before coach Dan Quinn and general manager Adam Peters were making all the right calls, Cosmi was around for plenty of losing and dysfunction. The gist of what he said to the team Sunday was to avoid a snowball effect on a week of short rest, with a road game at the NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles looming on Thursday night. Austin Eckroat won the World Wide Technology Championship on Sunday for his second PGA Tour title of the year, shooting a 9-under 63 for a one-stroke victory over Justin Lower and Carson Young. Playing in the group ahead of Lower and Young, Eckroat birdied the par-4 17th to open a three-stroke lead over Young, then finished with a bogey on the par-5 18th at Tiger Woods-designed El Cardonal at Diamante. Needing an eagle to force a playoff, Young birdied the 18th for a 65. Lower closed with an eagle for a 65. Eckroat finished at 24-under 264. The 25-year-old former Oklahoma State player won the Cognizant Classic in March at PGA National for his first PGA Tour title.

It was Darnold's first three-interception game in three years. All came while targeting All-Pro receiver Justin Jefferson, who finished with five catches for 48 yards. The Vikings trailed most of the day but took the lead on John Parker Romo's third of four field goals. Romo made his NFL debut and hit from 29, 34, 33 and 45 yards. The Jaguars had a chance late, but Mac Jones threw his second interception to essentially end it.

Chiefs block Broncos' potential winner as time expires, hold on for 16-14 win to remain perfect

Chiefs linebacker Leo Chenal blocked Broncos kicker Wil Lutz's 35-yard field goal attempt as time expired, and Kansas City escaped with a 16-14 victory over the Broncos that extended the Super Bowl champs' winning streak to 15 games. The Chiefs had taken the lead on Harrison Butker's field goal with 5:57 remaining, but Bo Nix and the Broncos marched back down the field. They set up Lutz for the winner, but Chenal came up the middle amid a big push by the Kansas City defensive line to get his hand on the kick. The Chiefs became only the fifth team to follow a Super Bowl triumph 9-0. The Broncos dropped to 5-5.

QB Caleb Williams has another rough day as the Bears lose to the Patriots 19-3

Right before Chicago's bye week, it looked as if Caleb Williams had turned a corner. It looked as if everything was coming together for the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft. These days, not so much. And that's a major issue for the Bears going into the most difficult part of their schedule. Playing behind a patchwork offensive line, Williams was sacked nine times and passed for just 120 yards during a 19-3 loss to the lowly New England Patriots. The Bears went 1 for 14 on third down and finished with just 142 yards in their third consecutive loss.

Daniel Jones and the New York Giants have a long journey back from Germany and a bye week to mull over what's going wrong in a 2-8 season. A slow start cost the Giants, who didn't score until the third quarter in a 20-17 overtime loss to the Carolina Panthers. Jones was sacked twice and threw two interceptions in his team's fifth consecutive loss. Coach Brian Daboll said he hadn't considered benching Jones at halftime.

Spillers, Sallis help Wake Forest hold off Michigan in 1st Deacon-Wolverine Challenge, 72-70

Tre'von Spillers dunked off the fast break and Hunter Sallis converted three of four free throws in the final nine seconds to allow Wake Forest to hold off Michigan 72-70 at First Horizon Coliseum. The game was the first meeting between the schools in 24 years to the day and was the first of a two-game, neutral-site series dubbed the Deacon-Wolverine Challenge. Bay got on the scoresheet in the 82nd minute when Asisat Oshoala finished Penelope Hocking's cross. Tara McKeown equalized three minutes later for the Spirit to push the game to extra time. Bay defender Caprice Dydasco saw Rodman's cross in the 96th minute late and redirected it into the goal to give the Spirit the lead.

Brown calls Antetokounmpo 'a child' after 2-time MVP offers handshake before pulling hand back

The network said Sunday that Wertheim made "an inappropriate comment" and it "holds its employees to a standard of respectfulness for others at all times, a standard that was not met in this moment." Wertheim posted an apology, acknowledging his "deeply regrettable comments off-air" that "inadvertently made it to live air." Krejcikova played last week in the WTA Finals, which were shown on Tennis Channel.

Heartbreak for Stuttgart as Marmoush leads Frankfurt to 3-2 win despite fightback in Bundesliga

Omar Marmoush has scored again and Eintracht Frankfurt survived a late fightback to win 3-2 at Stuttgart in the Bundesliga. Chris Führich scored in the seventh minute of stoppage time to set off wild celebrations for Stuttgart. But VAR ruled the goal out for offside, leaving the home fans and players deflated. Reds honor Pete Rose with a 14-hour visitation at Great American Ball Park

Thousands of fans have streamed into Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati despite steady rain to pay respects to Pete Rose. Baseball's career hits leader died Sept. 30 at the age of 83. The International Cricket Council has informed Pakistan that India declined to play any Champions Trophy games in Pakistan next year, a Pakistan Cricket Board spokesperson confirmed. The PCB has forwarded the ICC's e-mail to the government of Pakistan for further advice. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi said last Friday that he was not prepared to accept any hybrid hosting model and "no discussion" of any such proposal has taken place.
