SALT LAKE CITY — The uber-popular City Utah Jazz uniforms will be returning in the 2018-19 season, according to a statement made by the Jazz Monday morning.

After selling out of the initial shipment of the jerseys in a matter of days, the Jazz successfully petitioned Nike to keep the look in 2018-19, despite Nike's plans to rotate the City uniforms out every season for NBA team. Because Nike delays led to the jerseys only being used for half a year, they acquiesced to the Jazz's request.

The jerseys still won't be in stock soon in your local store, though. The Jazz will have just 45 small or medium jerseys available through random drawing beginning Tuesday. After that, the release notes that a larger shipment won't come until fall.

“New design and color schemes can be initially polarizing to a fan base, but we have been overwhelmed at the favorable response to these uniforms that represent a special part of our state,” Bart Sharp, senior vice president of marketing for the Jazz, said in a statement. “We are excited to bring back this southern Utah version of the Nike uniform collection for next season and we will introduce different looks in the future.”

The alternate court used at Vivint Arena will be on display once more during the regular season, in Tuesday's game against the L.A. Lakers. The uniforms and court could also be used during the playoffs, though with a schedule that would depend on the Jazz's playoff opponent and their color scheme. The home team chooses a uniform they'd prefer to wear, and the visiting team chooses a contrasting color.

The Jazz are 6-2 in games in which they wear the City jerseys this season, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see the club choose them often.

The release notes that the court will also be used during the Utah Jazz Summer League taking place at Vivint Arena this July.

The Jazz and Nike did have a separate jersey design ready to use for the City jersey in 2018-19, but that will be postponed until the 2019-20 season.

That doesn't mean the Jazz won't get any new gear in the 2018-19 season, though. Sportslogos.net's Conrad Burry reported the Jazz will be among seven teams to get throwback jerseys next year in addition to their set of four uniforms that every team has. That jersey will be purple and will likely feature the Jazz note, not the mountain design of the late 90s.

In total, the Jazz are slated to wear five different uniforms next season: their whites, navy blue, the gold Statement jersey, the sunset gradient orange City jersey, and the purple throwback above.
