NEW YORK — Wasatch Academy’s first game at the 2016 Dick’s Sporting Goods High School Nationals started off well enough.

The Tigers jumped out to a double-digit lead early, but five double-figure scorers helped Oak Hill Academy (Virginia) rally for an 81-64 win in the quarterfinals of the event Thursday at Christ the King High School in New York City.

The Tigers took a 21-10 lead early in the second quarter when Jeff Baradziej drained a 3-pointer with 7:43 left in the quarter. But the Warriors responded with a 23-2 run, eventually tying the game on Lindell Wigginton’s fast-break dunk with 5:23 left in the half. After taking the lead, Oak Hill never trailed again.

Oak Hill outscored Wasatch Academy, 28-9 in the second quarter, and cruised to the win.

Josip Vrankic led Wasatch Academy with 18 points and six rebounds, and teammate Jackson Rowe added 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

Utah State signee Koby McEwen supplied 12 points, six rebounds and five assists for the Tigers. The four-star point guard shot 4-of-8 from the field but was just 1-for-3 from the 3-point line in the loss.

Wigginton led the Warriors with 17 points and six assists, and teammates Khadim Sy and Devontae Shuler each scored 13. Braxton Key had 12 points and seven rebounds, and teammate Ty-Shon Alexander added 11 for Oak Hill.

The Tigers shot 52.3 percent from the field, but couldn’t get enough stops on the Warriors, who shot just 47 percent but outrebounded Wasatch 34-27 and forced 16 turnovers with 10 steals.

The Warriors advanced to face Miller Grove (Georgia) in Friday’s semifinals at 3 p.m. MT on ESPN2.
