SALT LAKE CITY --

@Xapostrophe: #Utes better eat today! I know they want the bowl game! #BeatUW!

Hopes were high as Utah traveled to Washington to take on the Huskies on the road for a Pac-12 matchup. Early on, the Utes looked impressive moving the ball with John White rushing the ball down the field, eventually for a touchdown.

@utahathletics: The Wolfman strikes! 46-yard TD run by John White, Jake Murphy on 2-pt conversion & Utes lead UW 8-0. 5:37 left in 1st qtr. #utes #utesvsuw

@mtnmark21: Juan. Blanco. Quattro. #Utes

He had Ute fans speaking Spanish. And Ute fans looking for history to tell them the outcome of the game early on.

@AdamMikulich: #Utes are 11-0 when John White runs for 100 yds or better. He's more than half way there already! #UTAHvsWASH

Twitter kept coming back to that fact, even when Washington started to shred through their defense on the ground and in the air. An 8-yard pass from Keith Price to Kasen Williams put the Huskies on the board to trail the Utes 8-7.

@JFurKSL: TD confirmed --> 8-7 Utah. Defense has to step it up or Price will tear them up.

Fans thought they'd see Reggie Dunn for the first time in the game as he set up for a kickoff return, but a short kick later and Dunn didn't get to touch the ball.

@UtahUtesInsider: SCARED OF REGGIE DUNN.

Bishop Sankey, Washington's sophomore running back, started to show some impressive numbers of his own, trying to answer to the Wolfman's performance early on.

@tate28: Washington is 3-1 when their RB, Bishop Sankey rushes for over 100 yds. So far he has 68 yds. #utes gotta stop the run game.

After the Huskies scored again on a QB draw, Utes fans lost faith in their team quickly.

@CErickson85: And the #utes implosion has commenced....as expected just before half time. Way to go guys.

But some were looking at the glass half full.

@bsgillis: On the bright side, IV is only 24 yards from hitting 100 for the game. #Utes

The Utes decided to turn their attention to quarterback Travis Wilson and give him some opportunities to drive the ball down the field, but screen passes and short passes were not getting the yardage they needed. Wilson ended the first half with only 32 passing yards on six completions.

@CErickson85: Hey #utes I've got a great idea, may be crazy, but put the ball in the hands of White and open some holes on the O-line. #score #win

They did just that and White reached yet another 100-yard game which elated some of the Utes fans but had others still skeptical.

@bsgillis: White IV just broke 100. That's the game. Wrap it up. #Utes win?

@SC_Ute: I'm calling it now. The #Utes lose even though White gets 100+.

@gunnardshepherd: As soon as we fall behind 2 scores we are done #Utes

That wasn't long, as early in the second half Price passed to DiAndre Campbell for a touchdown, putting the Huskies up 21-8. But the Running Utes answered with White getting a 20-yard rushing touchdown to bring the Utes within a possession.

@sookga1: Yes! The Wolf man strikes again! #Utes TD

@taylordmorgan: Don't count #Utes out. This ain't over yet. #wolfman100yards

But the story on Saturday night was the lack of a passing game by the Utes. Wilson was making smart throws, but the receivers were not catching easy balls, which eventually led to Utah's demise.

@gilluminate: Dear #utes, please catch the football. Even like, some of the time. K thanks.

@TheUFanCast: #Utah #Utes has just 55 passing yards after 3 quarters? That's not going to win many games, especially in the Pac-12.

@truebluejazz: I am just gonna say it. Travis Wilson is not a BCS conference quarterback. #truth #utes

Utah gave up two more touchdowns without getting one for the team, and lost to Washington 34-15.

@taylordmorgan: And that's the game. Perhaps Wilson's worst performance yet. JW4 can't do it alone. #Utes

@wildutah: #utes manage a painful 55 yards passing — and if the defense was shredded any more you could sprinkle them on a taco

Utah now looks to battle another Pac-12 foe, Arizona at home on Saturday, in hopes to keep its bowl eligibility alive.
