SALT LAKE CITY — The suspension of all sports in the Pac-12 is being extended following a decision by the conference Monday.

In a meeting with its CEOs, the Pac-12 decided to extend its suspension of all sports-related activities through May 31, according to a news release from the conference.

As part of the suspension, no organized team activities or in-person voluntary workouts, practices or film studies will be allowed during that time. Additionally, coaches and training staff are barred from hosting virtual voluntary workouts, regardless of the location, according to the release.

Athletic departments can host virtual group activities and film studies, but they’re limited to only two hours per week for football and four hours per week for any other sport.

The conference, which is following the directive of the NCAA, is appealing the decision for football players and is hoping to increase their time to four hours as well, according to the release.

Coaches for the various athletic programs can, however, write self-directed training plans with taped demonstrations for all student-athletes.

On March 14, the Pac-12 announced its decision to cancel all conference sporting competitions and championships through the end of the academic season, as well as all other team activities, such as spring football, until at least March 29. The conference then amended that suspension Monday.
