SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (AP) — John Edgar Jr. and Evan Leonard scored 21 points apiece to help UC Irvine beat Cal Poly 75-58 on Saturday night.

Edgar made 9 of 14 from the field and grabbed seven rebounds, while Leonard made three 3-pointers and finished 7-of-13 shooting overall. Eyassu Worku added 10 points and eight assists for UC Irvine (14-15, 9-4 Big West). The Anteaters remain tied with UC Davis for second in the conference standings, a half-game behind UC Santa Barbara.

Edgar and Leonard made back-to-back 3s and, after Cal Poly's Aleks Abrams made two free throws, Edgar added a layup and another 3-pointer to make it 11-2 and the Anteaters never trailed. Edgar's layup with six minutes left in the first half gave Irvine a 20-point lead before Victor Joseph scored 10 points in a 16-4 spurt that pulled the Mustangs to 35-27 at the break. Jakub Niziol converted a 3-point play that made it 43-38, but Cal Poly got no closer.

Joseph led the Mustangs (8-19, 3-10) with 16 points.
