WASHINGTON (AP) — Tim Barnes passed and rushed for touchdowns and Georgetown held off Columbia 17-14 on Saturday.

Georgetown (3-0) went ahead 10-0 in the first quarter on Barnes' 44-yard touchdown pass to Michael Dereus and Henry Darmstadter's 47-yard field goal. The Hoyas made it 17-0 in the third quarter on Barnes' 9-yard touchdown run. Barnes went 15 of 27 for 124 yards and carried 10 times for 29 yards.

Columbia (0-2) answered with a 46-yard, 11-play drive, culminating with Chris Schroer's 11-yard touchdown run to make it 17-7. After Georgetown was forced to punt from deep in its own end, Columbia used the short field to go 50 yards in five plays, with Anders Hill carrying the last 9 yards for a touchdown.

Georgetown limited Columbia to 44 yards in the fourth quarter to preserve its slim margin. The Lions outgained the Hoyas 286-167, but committed four turnovers.
