BOSTON (AP) — John Mooney scored 22 points with 12 rebounds, and T.J. Gibbs flipped in the game-winner with 0.1 seconds left to help Notre Dame beat Boston College 62-61 in an Ash Wednesday matchup of the longtime Catholic school rivals. BC led by as many as 10 points in the first half and had the lead with 8 seconds remaining. But Prentiss Hubb brought the ball down, ran into a dead end at the free-throw line and then slid the ball to Gibbs, who got the shot off in time. Steffon Mitchell had 12 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists for BC.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence does not ever again want to feel like he did after his team's last game. Lawrence had the poorest outing of his college career as Clemson lost 42-25 to LSU in the national championship game last month. Lawrence ended 18 of 37 passing with a fourth-quarter fumble that sealed things for LSU. Lawrence said he felt ansty and edgy, eager to get back to work. Lawrence and the Tigers did that Wednesday as they started spring workouts. Lawrence said he's worked on getting stronger and becoming a better leader heading into his junior season.

BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) — Kihei Clark made a 3-pointer with 2.1 seconds left and Virginia recovered after blowing a big lead and beat Virginia Tech 56-53. Clark's lone 3-pointer gave the Cavaliers a season sweep and a four-game winning streak against the Hokies. Tyrece Radford had tied it for Virginia Tech by slicing down the lane for a layup with 11 seconds left. The loss was the Hokies' eighth in nine games. Mamadi Diakite led Virginia with 19 points, Braxton Key had 10 with 11 rebounds and Clark had seven points, six rebounds and six assists.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Elijah Hughes scored 25 points, Joe Girard III added 16 and Bourama Sibide chipped in 13 points and 10 rebounds as Syracuse smothered Pittsburgh 72-49. The Orange won their second straight despite losing guard Buddy Boeheim to a left ankle injury in the first half. Syracuse's defense held Pitt to 29% shooting from the field. The Panthers have lost five straight and six of seven. Justin Champagnie led Pitt with 13 points and 17 rebounds but the Panthers struggled to find open looks against Syracuse's trademark 2-3 zone defense.
