SEATTLE (AP) — Coach Mike Hopkins knows the style of defense Washington plays will give the Huskies a chance of hanging around against seemingly any opponent in the NCAA Tournament. He also knows that no matter what kind of chaos Washington's zone defense creates, the Huskies still must find a way to hit shots at a far more consistent rate than they did late in the season. The Huskies will face Utah State in the first round of the Midwest Region on Friday in Columbus, Ohio.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The NCAA says it won't move future tournament games away from states or venues where gambling is legal. Although the organization remains opposed to gambling on its events, NCAA officials say they can't do anything to stop the spread of legal sports betting. This year's NCAA men's and women's basketball tournaments will be the first since the Supreme Court allowed sports betting in any state that wants it.

NEW YORK (AP) — Baylor, Notre Dame, Mississippi State and Louisville are the top seeds in the women's NCAA Tournament. The bracket was mistakenly put out early on ESPNU hours before the network had its selection show. ESPN apologized and scrambled to air an early show as the leaked bracket was shared on social media.

UNDATED (AP) — Michigan State's Tom Izzo and Kansas coach Bill Self endured plenty of adversity this season, yet have their teams rolling into the NCAA Tournament. They aren't alone when it comes to exemplary coaching jobs this season, either. Dana Altman at Oregon, Buzz Williams at Virginia Tech and Nate Oats at Buffalo are all in the tournament after dealing with different challenges.
