It's the fifth consecutive Grand Slam tournament Williams has exited before the fourth round. Next for Halep is a showdown Monday against 23-time major champion Serena Williams, who beat an 18-year-old from Ukraine, Dayana Yastremska, 6-2, 6-1.

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — No. 17 seed Madison Keys has reached the second week of the Australian Open for the fourth time with a 6-3, 6-2 win over No. 12-seeded Elise Mertens. The American made several errors and was 1.36 behind but still moved up six spots from her 15th-place finish yesterday. Vonn needs five more wins to break the all-time World Cup record of 86 held by Swedish standout Ingemar Stenmark before she retires at the end of the year.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — DeMarcus Cousins scored 14 points on 5 of 11 shooting in his debut with Golden State, helping the Warriors to their seventh consecutive win. Cousins also had six rebounds and three assists in the 112-94 win over the Clippers in Los Angeles. It was Cousins' first game since last January, when he ruptured his left Achilles tendon playing for New Orleans.
