WASHINGTON (AP) — The House Judiciary Committee abruptly delayed action on a historic vote to approve articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump. Chairman Jerrold Nadler postponed voting until Friday morning. The panel slogged for more than 14 hours through debate that split sharply along party lines. The panel was expected to vote to send the charges to the full House foraction next week. All day and into Thursday night, committee members clashed in pointed and at times emotional debate. The Republicans insisted on lengthy debate and votes on a series of amendments aimed at killing the charges. They kept at it though they won no Democratic support and had no hope of winning any.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — A judge newly assigned to decide if a Texas hospital can remove a 10-month-old girl from life support against her mother's wishes said Thursday she was allowing for more time for a facility to be found that would take Tinslee Lewis. Judge Sandee Bryan Marion said at the hearing in Fort Worth that she would decide by at least Jan. 2 if Cook Children's Medical Center could remove life support. Doctors at the Fort Worth hospital had planned to remove Tinslee from life support Nov. 10 after invoking Texas’ “10-day rule,” which can be employed when a family disagrees with doctors who say life-sustaining treatment should be stopped.

Johnson is calling the election “historic” as he was announced the winner of his Uxbridge constituency in suburban London. The Conservatives appear to be on course for a solid majority of seats in Parliament.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration and China are close to finalizing a modest trade agreement that would suspend tariffs set to kick in Sunday, deescalating their 17-month trade war. "We're close to a deal,'' says Myron Brilliant, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's head of international affairs, who has been briefed by both sides. Brilliant says the United States has agreed to suspend plans to raise tariffs on $160 billion in Chinese imports Sunday and to reduce existing tariffs _ though the amount of the cut was not clear. In return, the Chinese would buy more U.S. farm products, increase Americans firms' access to the Chinese market and beef up protection for intellectual property rights.
