CHISINAU, Moldova (AP) — Moldovan authorities have detained five people who they say are part of a paramilitary group that was planning armed attacks on Moldovan institutes.
The General Police Inspectorate said Wednesday that authorities searched the homes and cars of 11 people in the capital Chisinau and northern Moldova. Five people were detained including the suspected ringleader who is Ukrainian from the eastern Donbas region.
Police said the suspects had criminal records. There was no further information on the identity of the suspects or their alleged targets.
Police say they began a criminal inquiry into the group on Oct. 27.
