DALLAS (AP) — A Texas woman has been charged with capital murder in the death of her son after a relative told police the mother said demons told her to kill the 8-year-old.

Tisha Sanchez was being held Tuesday in the Dallas County jail on a $750,000 bond after being arrested in the suburb of Irving. The 30-year-old is also charged with assault of a peace officer and resisting arrest.

Irving police say they found the boy's body Sunday morning after receiving a call about an unconscious person. According to an affidavit, Sanchez's sister told police the mother confessed to her, saying demons told her to sacrifice the boy. The sister told police she believes Sanchez smothered him.

Police say the motive for the killing is being investigated.

Sanchez's lawyer declined to comment.
