DARDENNE PRAIRIE, Mo. (AP) — An eastern Missouri's former municipal court administrator will receive $70,000 to settle a lawsuit alleging she was fired partly because of a cancer-related disability.
Coreen Conroy said in a lawsuit against Dardenne Prairie that after she was subjected to ridicule after she had kidney surgery in 2010 following a cancer diagnosis. She alleged the city administrator also began imposing requirements on her that other employees didn't face and recommended that she be fired after she filed a complaint with the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports (http://bit.ly/1NrWmEQ ) city officials and former city administrator Brad Turvey have denied her accusations and said Conroy's 2011 dismissal was for insubordination.
City Clerk Kim Clark said the city's insurance will pay $70,000, plus Conroy's attorney's fees of $22,000.
