DALLAS (AP) — A late-winter storm that brought snow to the Panhandle and sleet and freezing rain to North Texas has prompted some school districts to cancel classes while others are delaying the opening of their campuses.
Drivers Thursday morning were expected to contend with slick and icy road conditions throughout much of the state as overnight temperatures dipped below the freezing mark. In Amarillo, the low temperature had been expected to be around 15 degrees overnight.
Various schools districts, including Arlington and Austin, have canceled classes for Thursday.
Dallas County government offices and courts were not opening on Thursday until noon.
Texas Tech University in Lubbock was delaying the start of classes until 11 a.m.
Flightaware.com reports more than 300 flights were canceled Wednesday at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
