Burrow takes Heisman in landslide
NEW YORK (AP) — As he did with several of his football games this season, Joe Burrow turned the Heisman Trophy voting into a rout.
The LSU quarterback has won the most prestigious award in college football after throwing for 4,715 yards and an SEC-record 48 touchdowns for the top-ranked Tigers. Burrow received 2,608 points and 841 first-place votes, a record 90.7 percent of all the first-place votes available. He’s the first LSU player to win the Heisman Trophy since Billy Cannon in 1959.
Burrow did it after failing to receive significant playing time at Ohio State. He transferred to LSU at the end of the 2017 season and threw for over 7,600 yards and 64 TDs as a Tiger.
Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts was second with 762 points. Quarterback Justin Fields of Ohio State was third and defensive end Chase Young of Ohio State was fourth.

Perry, Navy overwhelm Army
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Quarterback Malcolm Perry helped No. 21 Navy beat Army for the first time in four tries.
Perry ran for a career-high 304 yards and two touchdowns in the No. 21 Midshipmen’s 31-7 victory in Philadelphia. He ran for a 55-yard TD in the first half, added a 44-yard scamper and set Navy season records in yards rushing and total 100-yard games.
The game was tied 7-7 in the final minute of the first half until Perry took the snap at the 1-yard line and handed off the ball to receiver Chance Warren, who threw to Jamale Carothers for the score.
The 10-2 Middies won the Commander-In-Chief's Trophy for the 16th time and improved to 61-52-7 all-time against the Cadets.

BC hires OSU assistant
BOSTON (AP) — Ohio State co-defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley is the new Boston College football coach.
Hafley has helped turn around an Ohio State defense that struggled last year but enters the College Football Playoff leading the nation in yards per play at 3.93. He is a finalist for the Frank Broyles Award that goes to the best assistant coach in college football.
Hafley spent seven seasons in the NFL before joining the Buckeyes this year.
Boston College fired Steve Addazio the day after the Eagles finished the regular season 6-6.

Ducks down Wolverines in Ann Arbor
UNDATED (AP) — Fifth-ranked Michigan continues to struggle since a 7-0 start elevated the Wolverines from unranked to No. 4 in The Associated Press poll less than two weeks ago.
Oregon dealt Michigan its second straight loss and third in four games as Payton Pritchard scored 19 of his 23 points after halftime to lead the 10th-ranked Ducks to a 71-70 overtime win at Ann Arbor. Pritchard provided 13 straight Oregon points at the end of regulation and the start of OT.
Zavier Simpson had eight points and 11 assists for the Wolverines, but the defensive standout had trouble containing Pritchard.
Oregon improved to 8-2, by building a 16-point lead in the first half before withstanding an extended Michigan charge.
In other Top 25 games:
— Jordan Nwora (NOHR’-ah) poured in 26 points and top-ranked Louisville bounced back from its only loss of the season by routing Eastern Kentucky, 99-67. Steven Enoch had 23 for the Cardinals, who shot 63% in both halves after shooting 34% in their loss to Texas Tech in the Jimmy V Classic.
— David McCormack scored a career-high 28 points and second-ranked Kansas cruised to a 98-57 thumping over Kansas City. Devon Dotson finished with 18 points and Marcus Garrett added 13 points for the 9-1 Jayhawks, who led 43-24 at halftime despite a slow start.
— No. 8 Kentucky was a 67-53 winner over Georgia Tech behind Ashton Hagans’ 21 points. Immanuel Quickley tied a career high with 16 points in the Wildcats’ sixth consecutive win.
— J'Von McCormick had a career-high 20 points and 12th-ranked Auburn stretched its season-opening win streak to nine games by getting past Saint Louis, 67-61. The Ducks held the Billikens to a season-low 21 points in the first half.
— Damion Baugh sank a 3-pointer with 1:43 remaining to put 13th-ranked 13 Memphis ahead for good in a 51-47 triumph over No. 19 Tennessee. The Tigers erased an early 12-point deficit and ended the Volunteers’ 31-game home winning streak.
— Ibi Watson scored a season-high 20 points and led a 16-4 run in the first-half that carried No. 14 Dayton to a 78-47 victory over Drake. Obi Toppin added 19 points, eight rebounds and two blocked shots for the 8-1 Flyers.
— No. 16 Michigan State cruised to a 72-49 romp against Oakland as Xavier Tillman had nine points and 13 rebounds. Aaron Henry was the only Spartan to reach double figures, putting up 10 points and six assists.
— Bryce Golden scored 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting to lead No. 18 Butler’s balanced scoring attack in a 66-41 thumping of Southern. Sean McDermott added 11 points and Khalif Battle 10 as the Bulldogs extended the nation’s longest nonconference home games winning streak to 57.
— Jermaine Samuels scored 13 of his 18 points in the second half to push No. 20 Villanova to its season-high fourth straight win, 78-70 over Delaware. Justin Moore came off the bench to add 16 for the 8-2 Wildcats.
— Ron Harper Jr. had 18 points and Rutgers won its eighth consecutive home game by slamming No. 22 Seton Hall, 68-48.
— Wake Forest knocked off No. 23 Xavier, 80-78 as Chaundee Brown scored 26 points and Brandon Childress added 22.

Raptors top Nets to end home skid
UNDATED (AP) — The Toronto Raptors ended a three-game home losing streak by defeating the Brooklyn Nets for the 16th time in their last 17 meetings.
Pascal Siakam (see-A’-kam) scored 30 points and Marc Gasol (gah-SAHL’) set season highs with 17 points and 15 rebounds as the Raptors down the Nets, 110-102.
Norman Powell fouled out with 25 points and Kyle Lowry had 17 to help the Raptors extend an NBA record with their 34th straight home win against a division foe.
Spencer Dinwiddie scored 26 points for the Nets, who wasted a double-digit lead for the second straight game.

— Patty Mills capped his 26-point performance by nailing a jumper from the free throw line with 0.3 seconds left in overtime to give the Spurs a 121-119 win over the Suns. LaMarcus Aldridge and Dejounte Murray each added 18 points for San Antonio.

Caps dump Bolts
UNDATED (AP) — The Washington Capitals have maintained their seven-point lead over the New York Islanders in the NHL’s Metropolitan Division, and a five-point lead over Boston in the overall standings.
Lars Eller and Garnet Hathaway scored 44 seconds apart while the Caps scored four times in the third period of a 5-2 win at Tampa. Ellers scored from the left circle at 1:58 and Hathaway made it 3-1 from in-close.
Nicklas Backstrom, T.J Oshie (OH’-shee) and Tom Wilson had the other Washington goals, and rookie goalie Ilya Samsonov (sam-SOH’-nahv) stopped 26 shots.
It’s the seventh regulation home loss for the Lightning, tying last season’s total.
The Bruins and Islanders kept pace.
David Pastrnak (PAHS’-tur-nak) scored his league-leading 27th and 28th goals as the Bruins doubled up the Panthers, 4-2 to snap a five-game winless streak. David Krejci (KRAY’-chee) and Jake DeBrusk each added a goal and an assist for the Bruins, while Jaroslav Halak (YAH’-roh-slahv hah-LAHK’) stopped 31 shots.
Anthony Beauvillier (boh-VIH’-lee-ay) capped his three-point afternoon by scoring on a breakaway 3:04 into overtime to complete the Isles’ 3-2 victory over the Sabres. Beauvillier also assisted on goals by Michael Dal Colle (kohl) and Jordan Eberle as the Islanders improved to 13-2-1 at home.
Elsewhere on NHL ice:
— Eric Staal scored twice and the Wild improved to 9-0-3 in their last 12 home games by downing the Flyers, 4-1. Zach Parise also tallied and Carson Soucy added an empty-netter for Minnesota, which is 10-1-4 in its last 15 games.
— Calgary’s seven-game winning streak is over after James Reimer made 32 stops and Warren Foegele (FOH’-gul) scored twice in the Hurricanes’s 4-0 shutout of Calgary. Brock McGinn and Dougie Hamilton also scored for Carolina, which is 4-0-1 in its last five.
— Anton Khudobin (koo-DOH’-bihn) stopped 37 shots and the Stars did their scoring in the second period of a 4-1 victory against the Predators. Blake Comeau (KOH’-moh), Roope (ROO’-peh) Hintz, Jamie Oleksiak (oh-LEHK’-sihk) and Andrew Cogliano each scored for Dallas, and Alexander Radulov (RAD’-yoo-lahv) had two assists to help the Stars win their fourth straight.
— Bryan Rust scored twice in regulation and furnished the lone shootout goal to lead the Penguins past the Kings, 5-4. Teddy Blueger and Jack Johnson scored third-period goals to help Pittsburgh move to 13-5-4 in its last 22 games.
— Jakob Silfverberg scored a power-play goal in regulation and provided one of the Ducks’ two shootout tallies in a 4-3 comeback over the Rangers. Mika Zibanejad (MEE’-kah zih-BAN’-eh-jad) had two goals for the Rangers, who led 3-2 until Hampus Lindholm scored with 1:46 remaining in regulation.
— Jonathan Bernier (BURN’-yay) turned back 42 shots and Mike Green scored a power-play goal in the third period of the Red Wings’ 2-1 verdict over the Canadiens. Tyler Bertuzzi also tallied in Detroit’s second consecutive win since a 12-game losing streak.
— Alexander Kerfoot had a goal and an assist for the Maple Leafs in a 4-1 victory over the Oilers. Ilya Mikheyev (mih-KAY’-ehv), Frederik Gauthier (GOH’-tee-ay) and Mitch Marner also scored as Toronto dealt Edmonton its fourth straight loss.
— Anthony Duclair completed a hat trick by scoring a power-play goal at 1:56 of overtime to send the Senators past the Blue Jackets, 4-3. Alexandre Texier had two third-period goals to help Columbus erase a 3-1 deficit, but Ottawa came away with the victory on Duclair’s 18th goal of the season and eighth in five games.

USC receives notice in college corruption case
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Southern California's basketball program has received a notice of allegations from the NCAA following a federal investigation into corruption and bribery in the sport.
The school said in a statement Friday night it has “cooperated with the NCAA since it first became aware of the issues" raised in the notice, and it “looks forward to an expeditious resolution of this matter.”
The NCAA opened similar cases against North Carolina State, Kansas, and Oklahoma State this year.
GOLF-PRESIDENTS CUP
International have best shot at rare win in Presidents Cup
MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — Tiger Woods and Ernie Els both have reason for optimism on the final day of the Presidents Cup.
Els and his International team had a 10-8 lead going into Sunday singles. It's the first time since 2003 the International team has led after the four sessions of team play. It needs only six points from the 12 matches to end 21 years of not winning.
Meanwhile, the caddie for Patrick Reed will not be on the bag for the final session of the Presidents Cup after shoving a spectator who he felt was encroaching too close to Reed while cursing him.
WORLD CUP-WOMEN’S SUPER-G
Goggia leads Italian 1-2 in WCup super-G, Shiffrin 3rd
ST. MORITZ, Switerland (AP) — Sofia Goggia (GOH'-jah) won by the smallest margin in a women’s World Cup super-G race. Goggia beat her Italian teammate Federica Brignone (feh-deh-REE'-kah breen-YOH'-nay) by 0.01 second in sunshine and strong cross-winds. Mikaela Shiffrin of the U.S. was third, only 0.13 behind Goggia.
