BERLIN (AP) — Promoted Bundesliga side Leipzig signed highly-rated Scotland winger Oliver Burke from Nottingham Forrest on Sunday.
Burke agreed a five-year deal to 2021 with the German side.
"Burke is an outstanding 19-year-old talent with a huge amount of potential that hasn't played for the Scottish first team for nothing. He fits with out philosophy," Leipzig sports director Ralf Rangnick said.
Rangnick added that several clubs were interested in signing the midfielder.
Kicker magazine reported that Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur were interested but Burke was joining Leipzig for a fee of around 12 million euros ($13.4 million).
Burke has two appearances for Scotland, making his debut on March 29 against Denmark.
Leipzig also signed 21-year-old Brazilian defender Bernardo from Red Bull Salzburg on Sunday. Bernardo can also play in defensive midfield.
Also Sunday, Wolfsburg announced that Netherlands striker Bas Dost was leaving to join Sporting Lisbon in Portugal.
Dost joined Wolfsburg in 2012 from Dutch side Heerenveen and went on to score 36 goals in 85 league games for the side.
German media reported a transfer fee of 10 million euros ($11 million) for the forward.
