WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — Purdue junior forward Vincent Edwards has decided not to pursue the NBA for now.

The school said Tuesday that Edwards has withdrawn his name from the NBA draft and will return to the Boilermakers for the 2016-2017 season. Edwards is a 6-foot-8, 225-pound player from Middletown, Ohio. He says he talked with his family and Purdue coach Matt Painter after going through the NBA evaluation process and "decided it is best for me to return for my junior year."

Edwards says playing in the NBA is still his dream but he wants "to make next year a special one."

Edwards led Purdue in assists and 3-pointers made last season. He averaged 19 points per game during the NCAA Tournament.
