T25 MEN’S BASKETBALL-SCHEDULE

No. 6 Louisville rolls Clemson 80-62 for 6th straight win

UNDATED (AP) — Sixth-ranked Louisville has run its winning streak to six with a convincing home win against Clemson.

The Cardinals scored 18 straight points in the first half and hit 10 of their 21 3-point attempts in an 80-62 thumping of the Tigers. Darius Perry set career highs with five 3-pointers and 19 points, including a pair of long-range buckets that put Louisville ahead, 31-9.

The Cardinals held Clemson to 34.4% shooting and outrebounded their ACC opponent, 41-29.

In other top-25 games:

— Top-ranked Baylor stretched its winning streak to 16 games as MaCio Teague and Devonte Bandoo scored 16 points apiece in a 72-61 victory against Florida. The 17-1 Bears overcame an early eight-point deficit and led by 19 points in the second half before the Gators mounted a minor rally. Davion Mitchell finished with 11 points and six assists for Baylor, which was a slight underdog entering the game.

— Devon Dotson dropped in 22 points and Udoka Azubuike (oo-DOH’-kah az-ah-BOO’-kay) added 18 to lead No. 3-ranked Kansas to a 74-68 victory over Tennessee. The Jayhawks were playing their first game since Silvio De Sousa and David McCormack were suspended by the Big 12 for their roles in a brawl against Kansas State.

— Wyatt Wilkes came off the bench to shoot 5-for-6 from 3-point range and score 19 points as No. 5 Florida State held on for an 85-84 win over Notre Dame. Trent Forrest and RaiQuan Gray each scored 13 points for the Seminoles, who missed their last nine shots before earning their 10th consecutive victory.

— Dayton earned its ninth straight win as Obi Toppin had 24 points and 12 rebounds in the seventh-ranked Flyers’ 87-79 victory at Richmond. Jalen Crutcher added 24 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for the 18-2 Flyers, who led 40-32 at halftime and took control with a 12-0 run.

— Collin Gillespie scored 18 points, grabbed eight rebounds and hit Jeremiah Robinson-Earl for a dunk with 55 seconds left to help ninth-ranked Villanova secure a victory at Providence, 64-60. Robinson-Earl finished with 17 points for the Wildcats, who blew a 10-point lead in the final 12 minutes before earning their sixth consecutive win.

— No. 14 West Virginia posted a 74-51 win over Missouri as Jermaine Haley delivered 15 points and nine rebounds. Miles McBride finished with 15 points and the Mountaineers went on a 20-0 spurt that gave them a 47-25 lead with 12:28 to play.

— Nick Richards contributed seven of his 25 points in overtime, including the game-deciding free throws with 10 seconds left to lift 15th-ranked Kentucky past No. 18 Texas Tech, 76-74. Richards scored the first five points in overtime for the 15-4 Wildcats, who blew a 10-point lead in second half and went the final six minutes of regulation without a field goal.

— Isaac Okoro scored 19 points and Samir Doughty scored 18 as 16th-ranked Auburn held off Iowa State, 80-76 to improve to 17-2. Okoro provided 10 straight points to help the Tigers take a 76-62 lead with under six minutes remaining.

— SMU pulled off a 74-70 upset of No. 20 Memphis as Kendric Davis had 20 points and Emmanuel Bandoumel finished with 14. D.J. Jeffries had 18 points for the Tigers, who fell to 14-5.

— Ayo Dosunmu capped his 27-point performance by hitting a contested jumper from the free throw line with a half-second left to give No. 21 Illinois a 64-62 triumph over Michigan.

— Akwaski Yeboah provided 20 points and Geo Baker hit a 3-pointer with 1.2 seconds left to send No. 24 Rutgers past Nebraska, 75-72.

NBA-SCHEDULE

Surging Jazz rally past Mavs

UNDATED (AP) — Rudy Gobert (goh-BEHR’) was the leader as the Utah Jazz won for the 14th time in their last 15 games.

Gobert had 22 points, 17 rebounds and five blocks to carry the Jazz to a 112-107 comeback over the Mavericks. He converted a 3-pointer that gave Utah its first lead in the second half, added a tiebreaking tip-in and blocked an easy layup attempt to keep Utah ahead.

Utah also received 25 points from Donovan Mitchell and 23 from Bojan (BOY’-ahn) Bogdanovic.

Luka Doncic (DAHN’-chihch) finished with 25 points for Dallas, but he managed just two in the final period as the Mavs lost for the second time in three games since a four-game winning streak.

Checking out Saturday’s other NBA action:

— Lakers forward LeBron James has moved past Kobe Bryant for third place on the NBA's career scoring list with a driving layup against the 76ers. James scored the basket with 7:23 left in the third quarter and received a rousing standing ovation when the mark was announced by the public address announcer. The basket gave him 33,644 points.

— Kyrie Irving scored 17 of his 45 points in the third quarter to help the Nets overtime a double-digit deficit and beat the Pistons, 121-111 in overtime. Brooklyn's Jarrett Allen finished with 20 points and 15 rebounds.

— Zach LaVine (lah-VEEN’) delivered 44 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists for the Bulls in a 118-106 win against the Cavaliers. Tomas Satoransky added 19 points, five boards and five assists for Chicago, which pulled away by outscoring Cleveland, 40-19 in the third quarter.

NBA-MAVERICKS-WARRIORS TRADE

Mavs get Cauley-Stein from Warriors

DALLAS (AP) — The Mavericks have completed a trade that brings them 7-foot center Willie Cauley-Stein from the Warriors for a second-round draft pick this year.

Cauley-Stein is averaging 7.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 41 games this season, including 37 starts. He was leading the Warriors with 1.22 blocks a game before the trade.

The Mavericks needed help on their front line after starting center Dwight Powell tore his right Achilles tendon, ending his season.

NHL-ALL-STAR GAME

Atlantic vs. Pacific for All-Star title

ST. LOUIS (AP) — The Atlantic Division is taking on the Pacific Division in the NHL All-Star Game final in St. Louis.

The Atlantic Division advanced by downing the Metropolitan Division, 9-5. Bruins forward David Pastrnak (PAH’-tur-nahk) and Senators forward Anthony Duclair each completed hat tricks after Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman netted the tiebreaking goal while the Atlantics outscored the Metros, 5-1 in the final period.

The Pacific Division rolled to a 10-5 pounding of the Central Division as Sharks forward Tomas Hertl (HUR’-tul) scored four times for the winners. Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl (DRY’-sy-tul) added a hat trick and an assist for the Pacific squad.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL-SENIOR BOWL

Gordon sharp as North beats South in Senior Bowl

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — Washington State quarterback Anthony Gordon led the North to three touchdowns in the third quarter of a 31-17 victory over the South in the Senior Bowl.

Gordon completed 8 of 12 passes for 69 yards and two short touchdowns. That included a 2-yard scoring strike to Notre Dame's Chase Claypool for a second straight big third-down completion.

Oregon’s Justin Herbert shined for the South while completing 9 of 12 passes in the first quarter for 83 yards and a TD.

TENNIS-AUSTRALIAN OPEN

Gauff makes bid for quarterfinal berth

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — American teenager Coco Gauff is back in action as she tries to advance to the Australian Open quarterfinals.

The 15-year-old Floridian is fresh off a 6-3, 6-4, victory over defending champion Naomi Osaka. Gauff will be facing 14th seed and fellow American Sofia Kenin at Margaret Court Arena.

Women’s top seed Ash Barty has a night match against American Alison Riske at Rod Laver Arena after men’s second seed Novak Djokovic (JOH’-koh-vihch) concludes the day session against Diego Schwartzman.

Other matches of note on Day 7 of the Laver Arena schedule include Petra Kvitova (kuh-VIH’-toh-vah) against Maria Sakkari and Roger Federer versus Marton Fucsovics.

Wang Qiang also has a fourth-round match after ending Serena Williams’ latest quest for a record-tying 24th Grand Slam title.

PGA-FARMERS INSURANCE

Rahm grabs lead from Palmer

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Jon Rahm will carry a one-stroke lead into the final round of the PGA’s Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines.

Rahm shot a 7-under 65 to get to minus-12 through 54 holes, one shot ahead of Ryan Palmer. The 25-year-old Rahm is seeking his 11th professional victory and fourth on the PGA Tour.

Palmer followed Friday’s 62 with a 1-under 71 to lose the lead.

Rory McIlroy shares third place with Sung Kang, Harry Higgs and Cameron Champ at 9 under.

LPGA-GAINBRIDGE

Sagstrom maintains lead

BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) — Madelene Sagstrom fired a 5-under 67 to take a two-stroke lead into the final round of the Gainbridge LPGA at Boca Raton.

Sagstrom birdied four of the first eight holes and birdied the par-4 15th in a bogey-free round that puts her in position to claim her first LPGA title. The 27-year-old Swede is 15 under for the tournament.

Nasa Hataoka of Japan was second after 67.

WORLD CUP-WOMEN'S DOWNHILL

Curtoni leads Italian sweep at downhill, Shiffrin 4th

BANSKO, Bulgaria (AP) — Elena Curtoni led an Italian sweep of the podium at a women’s World Cup downhill in Bulgaria Saturday for her first career victory.

It was the second time in the 53-year-history of the World Cup that the Italian team took the top three spots in a women’s downhill.

Mikaela Shiffrin placed fourth and closed the gap to leader Corinne Suter in the season’s downhill standings to 16 points. Shiffrin leads the overall standings.

OBIT-CORRIGAN

Gene Corrigan, ex-ACC commissioner and NCAA head, dies at 91

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — Former ACC commissioner and NCAA President Gene Corrigan has died. He was 91.

Corrigan was the ACC’s third full-time commissioner, serving from September 1987 until retiring in December 1996. Florida State became the ACC’s ninth member while he was commissioner.

Corrigan served as NCAA president from 1995-97.
