DUMFRIES, Va. (AP) — A man has died after being shot by a federal officer working with a U.S. Marshals Service fugitive task force at a hotel in Virginia.
Prince William County police said the man was shot Friday morning at the Days Inn in Dumfries after he allegedly got into a physical struggle with an officer with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Members of the task force were attempting to serve arrest warrants on the man.
Police said the suspect fled out a window, then confronted the ICE officer. During the altercation, the officer shot the suspect.
The man was taken to a hospital and later died.
Police identified him as Mario Dantoni Bass and said he was being sought in connection with a domestic-related abduction.
Prince William County Police are investigating the shooting.
