While you may cringe at the phrase "new normal," the global pandemic has redefined what common courtesy in public means. While it used to only include niceties like using a turn signal and holding the door for the next person, it also now includes wearing a mask in public.
Several studies, including one conducted at Arizona State University, have found that cloth face coverings and masks are effective at slowing or reducing community spread of viruses and other harmful infections. However, face masks are only effective if they are properly worn and washed.
