There are over 450,000 individuals with Down syndrome living in the U.S. and every 1 in 691 live births result in a Down syndrome diagnosis. This can be a challenging and scary experience for parents, but Gigi’s Playhouse was created to change the way the world views this diagnosis and send a global message of acceptance for all. All of their programs are free and are therapeutic in nature. Each are designed to work on a specific skill development in several areas including speech and language, social development, and fine and gross motor skills. At GiGi’s Playhouse families are never alone, from a pre-natal diagnosis to career skills, they make a lifetime commitment to remain by their side. They provide resources, specialized teaching, and support to those with a diagnosis - their families and the community. These programs continue to change the way people view Down syndrome and encourage others to be accepting, generous, and kind. SelectHealth recognizes the supportive services provided by GiGi’s Playhouse, Layton as another example of how Utah Gives Back.
