ROY — Keenan Johnson scored the game-winning touchdown during a 14-point fourth quarter, and the Roy High School batted down a last-second Hail Mary attempt to rally past rival Fremont, 27-20 in the KSL Game of the Week on Monday night.
Austin Freeman opened the scoring with a 42-yard run in the first quarter, and the Silver Wolves took a 13-0 lead on the road in the second quarter.
But Roy came back. After trailing 13-7 at halftime, the Royals rattled off three unanswered touchdowns to go up 27-14 on Johnson’s late run.
Fremont quarterback Saxton Morby added a 9-yard run to pull within a score in the final quarter. But after the Silver Wolves got the ball back, Morby’s last-ditch pass attempt was batted down in the end zone and the Royals moved to 2-0 in Region 1 play.

Davis 35, West 7 — At Davis, Riley Smith ran for 233 yards and two touchdowns to help the Darts build up a 28-0 halftime lead and cruise past the Panthers.
Haden Grange threw for 151 yards and a score for Davis, and Jake Emery and Riley Stringham each added a rushing score.
Craig Tauteoli ran the ball 29 times for 84 yards and a touchdown for West.
Syracuse 13, Viewmont 6 — At Syracuse, Ty Metcalfe threw for 90 yards and a pair of touchdowns to N.J. Mo’o to help the Titans build up a 13-0 halftime lead and hold off the Vikings.
Hunter 33, Granger 13 — At Hunter, Pailate Makakona ran for three touchdowns near the goal line to help the Wolverines jump out to a 26-7 halftime lead and roll to the win.
Stone Houma returned a kick 88-yards for pay dirt for the Lancers to go up 7-0, but Hunter scored 33-unanswered points to clinch the win.
Lehi 28, Pleasant Grove 23 — At Lehi, Cammon Cooper threw his second TD pass to Kade Moore for 31 yards in the fourth quarter as the Pioneers held off the Vikings in Region 4 play.
Cooper also ran for an 8-yard score for Lehi, which saw a 21-10 halftime lead cut to five in the third quarter before the Cooper-Moore connection struck again.
Jake Jensen’s 42-yard strike to Dayne Christiansen pulled the Vikings within the final margin.
Timpview 38, Provo 3 — At Provo, Jordan Mariteragi threw for three touchdowns, including two scores to Kyle Van Leeuwen, to help the Thunderbirds keep their rivals out of the end zone in a dominating win.
Chaz Ah You added a 29-yard interception return for a touchdown, and Jake Biggs scored on a 43-yard run for Timpview, which led 10-3 after one quarter and shut out the Bulldogs the rest of the way.
Braiden Lovell accounted for Provo’s scoring with a 37-yard field goal in the first quarter.
