SALT LAKE CITY — Three more stories from the world of sports in today’s From Left Field.

1. Fan interferes with play, gets a kiss

Jimmy Dugan said there’s no crying in baseball, but didn’t say anything about kissing.

Atlanta Braves outfielder Chase d’Arnaud exemplified that Thursday night. As d’Arnaud tracked down a foul ball that appeared to be destined for landing in the field of play, a fan reached and grabbed it before d’Arnaud could.

D’Arnaud’s face ended up right up to the man’s cheek, and the outfielder gave the fan a quick peck on the cheek, as seen in the video below:

Umpires deemed fan interference on the play, meaning the batter, Philadelphia’s Cody Asche, was ruled out. The Phillies wound up holding on to win, 7-5.

Afterward, d’Arnaud retweeted the aforementioned video, adding “too funny.”

2. It’s Peyton on Sunday mornings

Peyton Manning is back! — well, in DirecTV commercials. The five-time NFL MVP quarterback retired from football after helping the Denver Broncos to a Super Bowl title in February.

The NFL king of both touchdowns and passing yards will have a lot time on his hands on Sundays, especially when the season starts.

In a new set of commercials released by the satellite company promoting its NFL Sunday Ticket package, Manning wanders around his Sunday mornings in a robe while trying to figure out what he plans to do during the season (with Lionel Richie guest starring).

There’s the one where he calls his brother, Eli, looking for someone to watch the game with.

Another, he’s caught in a grocery store line and another he’s sitting at a park bench.

In any scenario, it’s a reminder that it will be weird to see Manning no longer on the gridiron.

3. Dirk pulls the Zaza missed running man PK

Dirk Nowitzki has game on the basketball court, and apparently has game mimicking soccer stars.

In a celebrity soccer game in Germany Wednesday, the Mavericks forward mocked Italian forward Simone Zaza’s infamous “running man” penalty kick that sailed wide and ultimately helped Germany topple Italy in the UEFA EURO quarterfinals on July 2.

Here’s a mashup of the two to determine who airmailed their shot worse.

That Dirk is a funny guy.
