THE PUNCH BOWL TABLE — In today’s roundup of “stuff you might’ve seen on the Internet,” a baseball star crashes a prom, an NBA coach proves there is crying in basketball, and little Leicester City is a game away from an unlikely championship in England.

Here are a few of our favorite moments from the weekend in sports.

Yasiel Puig doesn’t need a suit

After the Dodgers’ 4-1 win over Colorado on Saturday, L.A. star Yasiel Puig celebrated by going to a prom.

No, it wasn’t his own prom, nor was he the invited guest of a special young lady in the Denver area.

Puig just showed up to Hatfield High School’s program and crashed the party — much to the teenagers’ delight.

The students seemed pretty pumped. At least, the baseball team did.

KSL could neither confirm nor deny that Puig was asked to the Sadie Hawkins dance by the first girl who recognized him, though.

There’s no crying in basketball … or is there?

After the San Antonio Spurs swept Memphis with Sunday’s 116-95 win, Grizzlies coach Dave Joerger took a moment to thank his players, especially veterans Vince Carter and Matt Barnes.

Either the NBA coach got emotional when talking about some of his star pupils, or there’s a surprising amount of dust in Memphis’ postgame press room.

Watch the video below, and try not to tear up.

Leicester City nears most improbable title in modern sports

Little Leicester City (pronounced “Lester,” for the American crowd), newly promoted to England’s Premier League, has nearly done it in soccer.

The Foxes are a win over Manchester United next week from winning the league title after making the jump to England’s top tier just two years ago.

And they may have done it thanks to this one move by Swansea City, keeping a Leicester attack onside on a free kick in the Swans’ 4-0 loss Sunday.

For a primer with how big of a deal Leicester’s title run is, consider this: the last time a team from outside England’s “big five” group of Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal won a regular-season title was 1995, when the tiny Blackburn Rovers held off Newcastle United for the trophy.

Leicester has already clinched a top-four finish, guaranteeing itself a spot in next year’s Champions League. And Blackburn? The Rovers have been languishing in the Football League Championship, England’s second division, since 2012.
